Gregory's Girl school to close

THE school that propelled John Gordon Sinclair to fame in the 1980s classic film Gregory's Girl is facing closure as part of cutbacks.

Abronhill High in Cumbernauld faces the possibility of shutting, as does Cumbernauld High.

The two schools could be combined and rehoused in a new single building.

North Lanarkshire Council education bosses have launched a consultation over the merger plan and a report claims it would result in annual net savings of more than £1.1 million.
