Half of city's libraries face threat of closure

ONE of Scotland's biggest cities could lose half of its libraries in a council money-saving scheme.

An Aberdeen City Council report has revealed that closing up to eight of the city's 17 libraries could save the authority more than £450,000 over five years.

The proposal comes after councillors agreed to scrap the city's mobile library service earlier this year, saving £13,000.
