TWO men who raped a woman on a canal path had earlier attacked a man on a bus.

Police investigating the attack on the 32-year-old in Clydebank say her attackers set upon a male passenger and forced him off the bus near to Scotstoun, Glasgow, on Sunday evening.

A number of other passengers had also witnessed the conduct of the pair towards the woman as they travelled on the 8.15pm bus from St Enoch's Centre via Argyle Street and the Clydeside Expressway before the three people got off in Dumbarton Road, Clydebank.

She was raped on the path near to the town's Jellico Street at around 9pm.

Police, who say there has been an excellent response to earlier appeals, yesterday updated their descriptions of the two attackers.

The first is shaven-headed, white, aged in his mid-20s and about 5ft 10. He was wearing a black puffa jacket and dark jeans or jogging bottoms.

The second attacker is also white, but in his late 20s and 5ft 6, wearing a dark jacket or shirt.

Detective Inspector Douglas Wilson, of Clydebank CID, said: "We have had an excellent response from the public which has provided valuable information to help us progress this inquiry.

''However, it is vital that we speak to anyone who was travelling on the bus, who witnessed the assault on the man or the behaviour of the suspects towards the woman."

The woman later raised the alarm at a nearby shop.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Clydebank CID on telephone number 101.
