High achiever

TEN-YEAR-OLD John Matthew Ramos was for the high jump as he joined Bethany Kingsley-Garner, from Scottish Ballet, in Buchanan Street, Glasgow, to launch a worldwide dance project.

John, a pupil at St Albert's Primary, Pollokshaws, will be taking part in the Big Dance Pledge, which will see more than 200,000 people in 2000 locations across the globe participating in a routine on May 16 as part of the cultural programme of the Commonwealth Games.

The performance has been choreographed by Scottish Ballet, inspired by the Highland Games.
