Highland plots sold with little hope of planning permission

Scores of small investors have paid out hundreds of thousands of pounds for Scottish housing plots that do not have planning permission and will probably never be developed, The Herald can reveal.

The buyers, mostly pensioners, have paid mark-ups of up to 1500% for parcels of Highland farm or forestry land that officials say is unlikely ever to get planning permission.
