Highlands police now carrying guns

POLICE officers in the Highlands are routinely carrying guns while supporting unarmed colleagues during their normal duties such as monitoring crowds leaving a nightclub, it has emerged.

Independent MSP John Finnie, a former police officer, is to raise the "worrying" development in his constituency with Police Scotland Chief Constable Stephen House after learning of the change in practice.
