Chief executive Trevor Moore insisted there was a high street place for the brand and said he was "confident that we will find a solution".
The firm, which has 22 stores in Scotland, with 223 across the UK, collapsed on Monday. Its sister store Fopp, which has three Scots stores, is also facing the same fate. Several suitors have been linked with HMV, including restructuring specialist Hilco who turned around HMV Canada in the last two years.
