Hospital workers in whooping cough alert

HUNDREDS of Scots healthcare workers are being vaccinated against whooping cough after a number of cases were reported among hospital staff.

Forth Valley Royal Hospital has also offered antibiotics to parents with young babies who have recently visited the accident and emergency department. The measures are being taken as a precaution after four frontline health staff at the hospital, in Larbert, Stirlingshire, fell ill with symptoms of the infection.
