GLASGOW charities are being invited to share in a £10,000 fund set up by a leading hotel chain.

Hilton Hotels is offering the chance for the organisations to secure money from the fund, which is run by its Hilton in the Community Foundation (HCF).

HCF aims to give a helping hand to charities and local groups enabling them to continue their work.

Every year the foundation chooses a different city to support and this year its giveaway pot of £10,000 is available to charities and groups who work with young people and children in need across Greater Glasgow.

Daniel Van Wyk, manager of Hilton Glasgow said: "This year we're appealing for charities and groups from across Glasgow to apply for a portion of our £10,000 giveaway.

"We want to help as many charities as possible and support them carry on doing the work they do to help as many people as possible and make a difference."

The hotel has a long-standing track record of supporting charities in the cities where it operates. During the last few years, the hotel group has worked with the Williams Syndrome Foundation (WSF) in Glasgow, which has benefited from donations of over £7000.

These funds supported families across Glasgow affected by Williams Syndrome which is a randomly occurring congenital condition caused by a chromosome defect, and which can be accurately diagnosed by blood testing.

Competition entrants must fall under the normal remits for foundation grants - and be charities or accountable good causes benefiting young people up to the age of 25 in the areas of education, healthcare or homelessness.

Mairi McMinn, Scottish region coordinator for the WSF said: "We were incredibly fortunate to be chosen by Hilton Glasgow.

"The money was used for the benefit of Scottish members of the WSF. The donation from Hilton Glasgow also covered the costs of a get-together for our Scottish members where the Williams Syndrome nurse was present to answer parent and Williams Syndrome individual queries."
