House blaze pensioners are rescued

AN elderly couple have been rescued from a fire at their home on the Cowal Peninsula in Argyll.

The pensioners suffered severe smoke inhalation in the blaze at the village of Sandbank.

A Strathclyde Fire & Rescue spokesman said: "If fire does break-out then an alarm will give you and your family potentially life-saving minutes to get to safety."
