Houses 'up £100,000' over decade

DETACHED houses in Scotland have risen in value by almost £100,000 over the past decade despite the economic slump.

Detached homes were worth an average of £238,111 in the second quarter of this year, 70% more than in 2002, when the value was £140,288.

The Bank of Scotland study showed that over 10 years the value of a detached house rose by £800 a month, while the average property price has fallen 21% since 2007.
