A SOCIAL enterprise launched by pupils from a Glasgow school will have access to hundreds of thousands of potential customers due to a link up with a major retailer.

Scribbles has been devised by third-year pupils at Hollybrook Academy, a school for children with additional support needs, to sell artwork by current and former pupils. It has been backed by Ikea, which has donated frames for pictures and is hosting a display of the artwork for two months. Daily footfall at the store can top 250,000 at weekends.

The business was launched at Glasgow's EcoChic boutique, itself a social enterprise, which is also incorporating a micro-store selling the works.

Profits made by the business will be split between Yorkhill Children's Charity, which raises funds for the hospital at which many of the pupils have had treatment, and school funds.
