AN audience of more than 200 businesswomen heard the pros and cons of Scottish independence at the Scottish Women in Business debate.

Host Sally Magnusson introduced speakers Nicola Sturgeon, Annabel Goldie, Johann Lamont and journalist Ruth Wishart at the event at the University of Strathclyde.

Scottish Conservative constitution spokeswoman Annabel Goldie said: "These events are vital in allowing us to engage with voters and explain just how important this referendum is.

"It gives us the chance to advance the very positive case which is the strong partnership of the UK with a strong Scottish Parliament to deal with domestic issues.

"They also allow a platform to argue forcefully against uncertainty and instability which would be the consequence of voting for separation."

Scottish Women in Business is a leading networking group for businesswomen in and around Glasgow.
