Ink it over

HANNAH Brocklehurst, curator of prints and drawings at the Scottish National Gallery stands in front of Hendrick Goltzius's 16th-century ink A Man Wearing a Tasselled Hat.

The picture, created using pen and brown ink, is one of the highlights of an exhibition at the gallery on The Mound to see highlights from a world-class drawing collection.Opening today and running until June 9, the event showcases works by a range of artists, including Rembrandt, Tiepolo, Guercino, Poussin, Goltzius and Alexander Runciman. Drawing in ink was prevalent in ancient cultures, particularly in Asia.
