Islanders urged to bid for Easdale after stones row

The man who led the successful community buyout of Gigha 10 years ago has advised islanders on Easdale to follow their example after the local laird said he was open to offers.

Stamp dealer Jonathan Feigenbaum made the announcement last week after a row with the community group Eilean Eisdeal over its hosting of the World Stone Skimming Championships on the island.

The event went ahead yesterday after the group reluctantly agreed to show Mr Feigenbaum, who is based in England, their insurance and a third party paid the £1000 fee he demanded for land use.
