A STUDENT who suffered life-threatening injuries after walking around Loch Lomond has lost a legal bid to win £750,000 from the public organisation responsible for the area's upkeep.
Lawyers for Michael Leonard, 20, wanted Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park Authority to pay the Paisley University student compensation for the impact the injuries have had on his life.
Mr Leonard, of Renfrew, suffered brain injuries and internal bleeding after being found unconscious on a single track road near Balmaha, Stirlingshire, on July 3, 2006. His lawyers said the authority had not done enough to make the path safe for people to walk down.
However, in a written judgement at the Court Of Session, Edinburgh, Lord Uist said the lawyers had not proven their case. He added: "That being so, his action must fail."
