THE pride of Scotland at the Olympics including tennis champion Andy Murray and rowing gold medallist Katherine Grainger have been recognised in the New Year honours list.

Dunblane's Murray is awarded an OBE in a year that saw him bounce back from a tearful loss to Roger Federer in the Wimbledon final to take gold and silver in the Olympics before he made UK tennis history by winning the US Open in New York.

Glasgow's Grainger, who at the third attempt won rowing gold, is appointed CBE.

Other members of Team GB were honoured, including Bradley Wiggins, who was knighted.
