Francis Fear, known by his middle name of Mark, was found at the home he had shared with the former presenter of Channel 4's Treasure Hunt in Cowes, Isle of Wight, on April 29 this year.
Next to the body of the 55-year-old was a note addressed to his friend Vicki Wyatt, which read: "I am sorry to land you in all this. I simply cannot face the future without Kenneth. M x"
Mr Fear and Mr Kendall met in London and they opened an art gallery together after they moved to Cowes following the presenter's retirement.
The couple became civil partners in 2006 and were together for 23 years. Friend Neil Robertson, who was a fellow member of the Royal London Yacht Club with Mr Fear, discovered his body after he had been informed that he failed to attend an appointment at the gallery.
He said Mr Kendall's death following a stroke had hit Mr Fear hard and with his partner, Ms Wyatt, they had attempted to help him cope with his grief.
Mr Robertson said: "It had a radical effect on him. After Kenneth died, she tried to help pick him up and I supported her in that."
The inquest heard that the cause of death was hanging and assistant coroner for the Isle of Wight, John Matthews, recorded a conclusion that Mr Fear committed suicide.
