Killer rapist begins appeal

A MAN who raped and killed a pensioner who had treated him like a grandson has launched an appeal against his sentence.

Jay Soso, 20, has taken the first legal steps in a bid to overturn a term of 12 year and eight months imposed last month.

Soso, of Edinburgh, was convicted of rape and culpable homicide after he attacked Marie Reid, 63, in her sheltered home in the city in November 2010.
