He is well-known for running through his local park in London wearing a kilt.

Now super-fit fundraiser Rob Young has set himself a challenge of completing 367 marathons in 365 days for three children's charities, wearing the Scottish attire for which he is famous.

Mr Young, 31, from Richmond, who formerly served in the Royal Corps of Signals, has already completed 139 marathons in 128 days.

The former Great Junior Biathlon and Triathlon competitor, took on the challenge after being inspired by the London Marathon and following a bet with his fiancee. He hopes to break the record of 366 marathons in a year, held by Spain's Ricardo Abad Martinez.

He is raising money for the NSPCC, Great Ormond Street Hospital and Dreams Come True. The father-of-one, who suffered abuse from his father as a child, said: "Pushing myself and raising money is a dream come true for me.

"I had a difficult childhood and do not want other children to have a similar experience. I have always wanted to help children born into less fortunate situations."
