A landmark church which sparked a feud between the Kirk and a council is up for grabs for half price after church bosses refused to budge on the cost for several years.

Greyfriars John Knox Church in Aberdeen had previously been on the market with an asking price of £1.27 million.

David Robertson, clerk to the Church of Scotland's general trustees, said: "Following professional valuation advice, the trustees have decided to re-advertise the property at the new lower price and continue to be willing to engage in sensible discussions with Aberdeen City Council."

An Aberdeen City Council spokesman said no discussions had yet been scheduled.
