Lifeboat takes ill woman, in 90s, to mainland in gale force winds

An ill pensioner had to be taken to hospital from her island home in a lifeboat after storms prevented a ferry crossing.

The woman, in her 90s, was taken from Mull to Oban by a lifeboat crew at around 6.55pm for emergency treatment.

An RNLI statement said: "Due to the gale-force conditions, the ferry which would normally be used to transfer patients was unable to make the crossing.
