SAND artists created a remarkable temporary portrait of romantic composer Franz Schubert at low tide in Elie in Fife.

The portrait appeared yesterday to promote the finale to 10th annual East Neuk Festival next Monday, but was destined to last only until the sea came in.

It was promoting the innovative Schubertiad, an afternoon and evening of chamber music by the 19th century Viennese composer Franz Schubert. The event will see music and songs from trios, string quartets, and soloists, including the Belcea Quartet, the Gould Piano Trio and soprano Malin Christensson.
