Mall's owners pull out of scheme to help area

THE owners of one of Scotland's most popular out-of-town retail destinations have pulled out of plans to regenerate the deprived community its mall sits alongside.

Jersey-based Hercules Unit Trust, owners of the Fort shopping centre on Glasgow's eastern border, had been expected to contribute £10 million towards the regeneration of Easterhouse once planning permission was granted for a 16,000 sq m extension.
