A man has been charged after offensive Tweets allegedly targeted Celtic's Leigh Griffiths.

Police Scotland said a 29-year-old man from Aberdeen had been charged and would appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court at a later date.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

Chief Inspector Murray Main said "We will take robust action when it comes to any form of hate crime whether the comments are said in the street or online.

"As we have already shown this week, we will ensure anyone committing such unacceptable offences online will face the full consequences of their actions.

"I'd ask people to remember, if it is illegal to say it on the street, it is illegal to say it online."
