Man, 63, dies after his vintage Beauford convertible crashes off road

A man has died after his vintage-style car came off the road in Aberdeenshire.

The 63-year-old was driving on the A90 Aberdeen to Dundee road when his beige Beauford convertible left the southbound carriageway last night.

The driver died at the scene.

Police have appealed for information on the accident at the Muchalls bends at around 7pm.

Road policing sergeant Steve Milne said: "We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw this distinctive vehicle being driven on the road shortly before the collision to come forward.

"At the time of the collision driving conditions were good and it is vital that we piece together what has happened. Witness accounts are key to this and a full investigation into the circumstances is now under way".

The carriageway was closed for five hours as investigators attended the scene. The route has since reopened.
