Man charged with nightclub assault

A man has appeared in court charged with assault to severe injury and danger of life after an alleged attack outside a nightclub.

A 47-year-old man suffered head injuries in the incident near Mambo's in Queen Street, Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, in the early hours of Sunday.

He is said to be in a serious condition at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

John Patrick Nixon, 29, from Londonderry, was charged with assault to severe injury and danger of life when he appeared at Peterhead Sheriff Court today.

He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

The 29-year-old's next court appearance is expected to be August 5.
