A man has appeared in court charged with raping a woman as she made her way home from a fancy-dress party.

Garry Meldrum, 24, is accused of attacking a 35-year-old in a car park near Glasgow city centre.

The alleged incident happened in Bridge Street in the early hours of Sunday October 27 when the woman was returning from a party dressed as a bride.

Meldrum, from Glasgow, was remanded in custody at the city's sheriff court today after he was charged with rape. He made no plea or declaration.

In a separate incident, a 19-year-old woman was allegedly raped in Glasgow's west end on October 31.

David Brown, 31, appeared in court yesterday charged with attacking the teenager near West Princes Street and Queens Crescent in the Woodlands area.

He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

Both men are expected to appear at court again next week.
