An elderly man hit by a bus on a busy city street remains in a serious condition in hospital.

Emergency crews were called to a section of Sauchiehall Street near Holland Street, Glasgow at 5.30pm on Monday.

The 77-year-old man was crossing the road when he was hit.

He was taken to Southern General Hospital where staff said his condition is still serious.

The driver of the bus and the passengers were uninjured, police said.

Officers are investigating the collision and have appealed for any witnesses to call them on 0141 532 6400 or 101.
