Man identified from artist's impression

THE body of a man found in the sea has been identified after experts created an artist's impression of his face.

Five months after an initial public appeal for information, the remains, which were discovered near the Skye Bridge, have been identified as a man from Fife.

Alan Younger, 48, from Kirkcaldy, had never been reported as a missing person and the last known sighting of him was in August.

His body was found in the water at near the village of Kyleakin on September 9. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

Earlier this month an artist's impression was published following work by experts at Dundee University's Centre for Anatomy and Human Identification.

Police Scotland said that they had received a significant response from the public following the publication of the image and this had been key to the identification. Officers had already ruled out 24 possible names.

In a statement, they said: "Police would like to thank members of the public who assisted with their enquiries and those within The University of Dundee, who assisted significantly by producing a facial image of Mr Younger.

"There are no suspicious circumstances into Mr Younger's death and a report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal."

Police had earlier said it was believed the man was left handed. He had a T and a G symbol tattooed on his left forearm. He was described as a man was aged between 45 and 65, 5ft 10, slim and had short dark hair.
