A MAN has been accused of attempting to murder a police officer in an alleged knife attack.

Jamie Morrison is alleged to have stabbed Pc Scott Kidd, of Police Scotland's Tayside Division, during an incident in a common stairwell in Dundee on Monday.

The officer is being treated in Ninewells Hospital.

Mr Morrison is accused of assaulting PC Kidd by striking him on the hand with a knife and attempting to murder him.

He also faces charges of possessing a knife, behaving in a threatening and abusive manner and an assault charge.

The assault charge alleges that he attacked Steven Gollan and repeatedly attempted to punch and kick him.

Morrison, 26, of Dundee, made no plea or declaration during a brief private hearing at Dundee Sheriff Court yesterday.
