Man in court on terror charges

A man has appeared in court charged under the Terrorism Act after a tower block was evacuated.

Fidra Court in the Muirhouse area of Edinburgh was evacuated on Friday night.

Faris Alkhori, 61, was charged under the Terrorism Act 2006 and the Explosive Substances Act 1883 when he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday.

He made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.

He was charged under section five of the Terrorism Act 2006, which covers the alleged preparation of terrorist acts.
