Man killed after car hits greenhouse

A man has died after his car left the road and crashed into a greenhouse.

Emergency services were called to the scene in Gillespie Road, Edinburgh, at around 11.40am today, police said.

Seventeen firefighters were involved in getting the man out of the vehicle. He died at the scene.

The road was closed for a time while police carried out investigations.

Police said the car crashed into the greenhouse in the grounds of Downes Nursery after leaving the road and rolling down an embankment.

Officers investigating the crash have appealed for any witnesses to contact police on 101.
