Police have named a man who was killed when his car crashed on a busy cross-border road.

Scott Cameron, 28, from Corby Hill in Carlisle, died as a result of the accident on the A7, which links Edinburgh and Carlisle, on Saturday, Police Scotland said.

Mr Cameron appears to have been travelling north on the road in his white Mini One car in the early hours when the accident occurred just south of Langholm in Dumfries and Galloway.

Police closed the road for a crash scene investigation to take place, and are still appealing for witnesses to come forward.
