Man killed in street attack on Hogmanay

A murder investigation has been launched after a 21-year-old man died following an attack in Glasgow on Hogmanay.

Emergency services were called to the city's Springburn area after reports a man had been assaulted in Petershill Road, near the fire station, at 10.30pm. The man, named locally as Ryan Sherry, was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he died. It is thought the victim, who was from the Springburn area, had been chased from a nearby close before the attack.
