A MAN has died and three other people were taken to hospital following a two-car crash on a north-east road.

The collision between a green Vauxhall Astra and a gold Renault Scenic happened on the B9033 Fraserburgh to St Combs Road, in Aberdeenshire, at about 7.10pm yesterday.

Police Scotland said the 52-year-old man who was a passenger in the Vauxhall died at the scene of the ­collision, which happened at the junction with the B9107 at Inverallochy.

Three other people were taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI).

The 83-year-old man who was driving the Vauxhall was taken by ambulance. He was kept in overnight but does not appear to have serious injuries.

The 50-year-old woman driver of the other car was airlifted to hospital, where she was subsequently discharged with minor injuries.

Her 17-year-old male passenger was taken to the ARI by ambulance. He too was released with minor injuries.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them at Police Scotland on 101.
