Man missing after flight to Spain

A man has disappeared after leaving the UK on a flight to Spain, police said.

Peter James Smith, 29, from Selkirk, Borders, was last seen on a flight from East Midlands airport to Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands on January 14.

He has not been heard from since and his family are said to be increasingly concerned.

Police Scotland has appealed for information to help trace Mr Smith, who may have returned to the UK without the knowledge of his family.

He is described as white, 5ft 6ins and slim with blue eyes, short light brown hair and a Scottish Borders accent.

Inspector Carol Wood said: "Police are concerned for Peter and keen to find out his whereabouts.

"Anyone who believes they have seen Peter, or who has information that can assist our investigation, is asked to contact police immediately on 101 or 0131 440 6861."
