A Scottish man is today being tested for the Ebola virus after returning from west Africa.

It is understood that the man was admitted to a Glasgow hospital at around 2.20am on Tuesday.

He was taken to the Brownlee Centre for infectious diseases at the city's Gartnavel Hospital after showing possible symptoms of the virus.

A NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde spokesman confirmed the man has been tested.

He said results were expected on Tuesday afternoon and added it was "very unlikely" the patient would test positive for Ebola.
