RAOUL MOAT

In July 2010, Raoul Moat sparked a huge police manhunt after shooting his former partner, killing her new boyfriend and blinding a policeman by shooting him in the face.

Moat went on the run for a week and a reward of £10,000 was offered for information.

He shot himself after being tracked down by armed officers who cornered him in Rothbury, Northumberland.

LORD LUCAN

One of the biggest manhunts in British history was triggered by the disappearance in 1974 of John Bingham – better known as Lord Lucan – who was the chief suspect in the murder of his children's nanny.

Despite intense investigations by Scotland Yard, Lord Lucan has never been found and his fate remains the source of much speculation.

RONNIE BIGGS

In 1965, Ronnie Biggs, a member of the gang who had carried out the Great Train Robbery two years earlier, escaped from Wandsworth prison with three other prisoners.

He lived as a fugitive for 36 years, mostly in Brazil, but spent several years in prison after voluntarily returning to the UK in 2001. He was released in 2009 on compassionate grounds.
