NEWLYWED Hollywood star George Clooney has declared that married life "feels pretty damn great".

The Oscar winner tied the knot with British barrister Amal Alamuddin in Venice at the weekend in a ceremony attended by numerous A-list names.

In a magazine interview, the couple shared the private ceremony at the luxury Aman Canal Grande hotel.

Family and friends flocked in from more than 30 countries, and applauded after the couple exchanged vows and platinum wedding rings during the 30-minute ceremony.

Afterwards Clooney said: "My verdict on being Mr and Mrs Clooney? It feels pretty damn great."

Ms Alamuddin wore a custom-made Oscar de la Renta dress embroidered with pearls and diamante.

Clooney was dressed in a black tuxedo created by his friend Giorgio Armani.

Guests at the lavish reception included Matt Damon, Bill Murray and Bono.
