VISITORS to Kelvingrove have been admiring a new Rembrandt.

Saskia in Arcadian Costume, painted in 1635, has come north as part of an exchange with the National Gallery. It is one of the master's earlier works and comes from the period when Rembrandt and his peers were forging a new style of portraiture ahead of the Dutch Golden Age. Another Rembrandt held by the Glasgow gallery, A Man in Armour, has gone on tour with the London gallery and will be seen in Amsterdam in May next year before it returns.
