TOP lawyer Paul McBride QC was suffering from an undiagnosed heart condition when he died suddenly in Pakistan, a post-mortem has revealed.

A final report into the death of the 47-year-old – who appeared to be fit and healthy – has revealed he died from "active ischemic heart disease" in his hotel room in Lahore in March.

It is understood that Mr McBride took a sleeping pill and a few sips of wine on the night he died, and the post-mortem confirmed traces of alcohol and tranquilliser were found in his body.

The report suggests it was the combined effect of his heart condition and the wine and pill that killed him.
