The current Rangers board would have been sacked long ago if they were in any other business according former shareholder Jim McColl.
The billionaire businessman who donated his shares to fans' group Rangers First said he hoped they will be next week at the EGM at Ibrox.
Mr McColl said he had no plans to get involved in investing in Rangers but that it was still a good investment in the future.
He said: It has been neglected for a very long time. There has been appalling mismanagement. If it was a normal public business they would have been sacked.
"Hopefully they will be sacked."
The businessman said he would be watching next week when Dave King and others attempt to oust the current board.
He said: "Because of the shares Dave King, the three bears and the fans' Trust have my arithmetic says they have got the vote."
Mr McColl who has a track record of taking over failing business as and turning them round said he was amazed at the operation at Ibrox.
He said: "This is a football club that is a fantastic opportunity but it needs to be managed and led properly. I can't believe how it being run. I can't believe the board has got away with what it has."
Mr McColl said he did not have the time to get involved in the management of the club and his investment scheme did not allow him to invest in the club at present.
He said his investment funds were only able to invest in engineering businesses, but his affection for the club remains obvious.
Mr McColl was speaking after a Glasgow Chamber of Commerce talk he was in the city for.
He said: "I helped them to try and get the old board out. Here is a club that is in Glasgow's DNA. Half may workers support it."
He also said he was warned by people in Sheffield about Charles Green.
He said: "People who worked for me told me about him when he was at Sheffield.
"They warned me watch this guy. They said he sold all our players and within 18 months were at the bottom the lower division. He sold all the players sold the assets, took money out and disappeared."
Mr McColl is looking to next week's meeting as the turning point.
He said hopefully it will be sorted out a week on Friday."
