LONDON Olympic medallists Tim Baillie and David Florence have thrown their support behind ambitious plans to build Scotland's first competition-standard watersports facility at the Forth and Clyde Canal.
The canoeists visited the site of the proposed £2.2 million development yesterday at Pinkston Paddlesports site at Port Dundas, in Glasgow.
The scheme is being driven by Scottish Canals, Glasgow City Council and ISIS Regeneration as part of plans to develop the canal, but remains £1 million short of cash to achieve its opening target next summer.
Baillie, 33, who won gold and silver medallist Florence, 30, urged funders to step in.
"There's a lot of talk about legacy and giving everyone a shot at sport," Baillie said. "Pinkston will be the kind of place everyone can have a go."
