One of the first was a boy delivered at St John's Hospital, Livingston, at 12.08am.

The baby, named Ruraidh, was born to Lesley Alexander and Ian Cumming from South Queensferry and weighed 5lb 7oz.

Shortly after, another boy was born at Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert.

Ashley Russell and Conor Hunter from Stirling welcomed baby Logan into the world at 12.45am.

The newborn weighed 6lb 70z.

A baby girl, yet to be named, was born to mother Angela Kyle at Wishaw General Hospital in Lanarkshire at 4.16am.

The hospital said both mother and baby were doing well and the family are hoping to leave soon to spend their first Christmas together at home.
