Memorial plaque thief sentenced

A thief who sold 16 memorial plaques, of people cremated at Dundee Crematorium, for scrap has been handed a community payback order for 100 hours of unpaid work.

Martin Gaughan, 31, from Dundee, took them to a scrap metal dealer, but workers called police when they saw what he was selling. Prosecutors accepted his plea that he had found the plaques.
