Today the festival (GFF) unveils a series of special shows for the festival, which takes place in the city next February.

The festival will screen Strictly Ballroom, the 1992 Baz Luhrmann film, at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, and also feature a special mini-festival of cat videos at a city art gallery.

Tickets for these events from the 2015 programme - which will feature a different "pop up event" for every night of the festival - are now available.

The eleventh annual Glasgow Film Festival will run from February 18 to March 1.

The full programme will be launched on January 21.

Other events now on sale include Irene Buckley premiering a new soundtrack to the 1928 film The Fall of the House of Usher at the Pollokshaws Burgh Hall in the city's southside.

Comedian and writer Merton and the award-winning silent film pianist Neil Brand will team up to pay tribute to Keaton for a show at the Old Fruitmarket venue on February 23.

The festival will also see the Scottish premiere of the film and live score project by the rock band British Sea Power, From The Sea to the Land Beyond at the ABC venue, which used to be one of the city's oldest cinemas.

Allan Hunter, co-director of Glasgow Film Festival, said: "Our special events are a large part of what makes Glasgow Film Festival distinctive: people love to experience cinema in new ways, and we're lucky to have such a wealth of exciting venues available in the city.

"This is only the tip of the iceberg, too: we're going to announce a different pop-up event for every night of the festival at our programme launch in January.

"The programming team have really let their imaginations run riot this year, so we think audiences will be pretty excited by what's in store."

The cat video festival will run on February 21 and 22, a festival that comes from the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis in the US.

The festival, to be held at the Gallery of Modern Art, GOMA, is a free live event.
