The mother of three-year-old Mikaeel Kular has appeared in court for a second time charged with his murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

Rosdeep Adekoya, 33, appeared in private at a full commital hearing before Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday, 11 days after the youngster's body was found in Kirkcaldy, Fife.

She made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody. No further court dates have yet been fixed.

It came little more than a week since she made her first appearance at the court on January 20.

Mikaeel's body was found in Kirkcaldy, Fife on January 17 this year, after a huge search involving the local community following reports he had disappeared from his Edinburgh home th the previous day.

Police Scotland issued his picture and appealed to the public for help in finding him.

Hundreds of volunteers from the local community joined police and specialist teams as they searched the surrounding area.

But in the early hours of Saturday January 18, police revealed that the body of a young boy had been discovered in Fife and that a woman had been detained.

Investigations were focused in an area of woodland behind a house in Kirkcaldy.

Last Friday hundreds gathered on both banks of the Forth to release balloons and light candles in his memory.

Meanwhile, cuddly toys left in Mikaeel's memory are to be given to other children, at the request of his family.

Hundreds of toys were left yards from where they lived in Edinburgh.

His family wanted to see all the cuddly toys donated to charity in a bid to comfort other children.

Handwritten tributes left for Mikaeel will be kept for the family to read at a later date.
