ANDY Murray's new hotel has failed a safety inspection.

The restaurant kitchen at the tennis star's luxury Cromlix House hotel in Dunblane did not meet standards when inspectors from the Food Standards Agency called.

The manager of the Chez Roux restaurant said it is now fully compliant with food hygiene standards.

Graeme Green said the problem identified by Stirling Council officials - a faulty kitchen sink - has been repaired and a follow-up inspection is eagerly anticipated.

Mr Green said: "The first inspection of our new kitchen at Chez Roux identified a minor fault with the connection of the handwash sink. We repaired this immediately and have requested a further inspection to ensure we exceed standards."

Cromlix House was taken over by Mr Murray early last year. He bought it for around £1.8 million. Following an extensive renovation, the five-star retreat was voted, days after opening, best hotel in the country.

Latest accounts suggested the hotel is now worth around £4 million and will likely be one of the most coveted accommodations during this year's Ryder Cup at nearby Gleneagles.

Its Chez Roux restaurant is run by legendary French chef Albert Roux, with the award-winning, Michelin-star recipient Darin Campbell as head chef. The FSA carried out its inspection on July 17. The restaurant was given an "improvement required" rating and has been removed from a list of approved establishments until further inspection.

A FSA spokesman said: "The scheme effectively opens the door to the kitchen and/or food areas and consumers can see how well food businesses in their area have performed at their last food hygiene inspection. This will increase consumer confidence and help people make informed choices about where they eat."
