TWO Liverpool football heroes have unveiled a monument to mark 101 years since the birth of the club's legendary former manager Bill Shankly.

Ex-player Alan Kennedy and former manager Roy Evans visited the montage of artwork featuring the Kop in Muirkirk, East Ayrshire, near the village of Glenbuck, where Shankly was born on September 2, 1913. Artist John Crosby produced it with the help of local school children. Shankly, who died aged 68 in 1981, led the Anfield side to three first division titles, two English FA Cups and the Uefa Cup.
